Morgrip 3000R Connector

The 3000R Connector is the latest version of the remotely operated Morgrip connector, building on the success of the original "Remote" Connector series.

The 3000R has now been supplied in pairs of 12", 16" and 20". A single 42" connector has also been supplied as a prototype for capacity and integration testing. The new design returns to the proven technology of longitudinal studbolts, and adds a remotely operated bolt multi-stud tensioning system (MST). This approach importantly gives great weight and size reductions and allows the units to be designed and used in a modular fashion.

Standard connector features such as grip and seal design and external test facility are standard in the 3000R.

Hydratight world firsts

In 2002, a 12" Morgrip 3000R Connector was used to perform a diverless pipeline repair in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea for Norsk Hydro. This became the first and only diverless on-bottom pipeline repair.

The connector was one of four supplied as repair contingency for 10" duplex cross-over pipelines. The simplified 3000R connector is deployed on an integral skid and can be manoeuvred into position on the pipeline-end prior to activation via a 3000R multi-stud tensioning system.
