Hydratight showcases new wind product range at Husum

Global engineering and joint integrity specialist Hydratight will be launching its wind power brochure, showcasing its complete range of wind products at Husum WindEnergy Trade Fair in September.

This is the first time the company has gathered all its products and services for the wind power industry under one dedicated heading.

“By showcasing the range as a whole and making it application specific, it will be much clearer for the customer to choose the best product for the job,” said Gavin Coopey, Hydratight’s global powergen market leader.

Hydratight works in partnership with the world’s leading original equipment manufacturers to ensure its products are 100 per cent compatible.

The company has built a formidable reputation for world-class bolted joint solutions in the oil and gas industry for over three decades, and has worked with the wind power industry since the first large scale commercial turbines over ten years ago.

Hydratight tension and torque equipment is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the wind energy market, allowing turbine manufacturers and contractors to meet delivery demands by reducing bolting times and achieving accurate loads every time.

The range includes:

Foundation Bolting Solutions - A range of safe, reliable bolt tensioners that will secure any type of bolt to any type of onshore or offshore surface. Products include the basic foundation bolt tensioner, originally developed to fix foundation bolt fasteners on wind turbine towers, now also used on all Williams, Dyson or similar form-factor studs and bolts; the rock anchor tensioner, designed for smaller concrete turbine bases and 2.5in, 150-grade all-thread bar, and the elliptical tensioner, a revolutionary unit for use in restricted-access applications, 20% narrower but as universal as our other products.

Tower Bolting Solutions - A vast range of torque and tension solutions for the on-site assembly of tower structures.

Nacelle Bolting Solutions - An array of torque and tensioning system tools for the safe assembly of blades and bearing bolts. They can be adapted to tension ALL the fasteners in the joint simultaneously, ensuring the most even distribution of stresses in these all-important assemblies. Solutions also include micro-tensioners for 10.9 grade bolts, and highly-adaptable RSL hydraulic torque wrenches with a wide range of square and hexagon heads.

Wind Power Pumps - Hydratight has developed a unique range of pumps to cater for the high demands of wind turbine operations, with special attention to weight, tower clearance issues, continuous operation and extreme temperature environments.

Hydratight has used the latest metallurgical, bearing and seal technologies to produce the ST-PS74060 and ST-PS7L/F hydraulic tensioner pumps – the latest technology in high-pressure, electrically-operated pumps for tensioning application. These pumps operates effectively for longer and requires less maintenance than standard units.

The PowaPak range of automatic and semi-automatic torque wrench pumps meet the demands of the high-volume assembly wind-energy market.

Custom-engineered solutions – For those problems demanding unique solutions and highly specialised engineers, Hydratight can design and manufacture custom tools to solve the world’s most demanding field, machining and bolting applications.

Hydratight’s D L Ricci range of flange-facing tools is also available and capable of refacing any flange from 254mm-2,794mm, while the D L Ricci range of milling machines can undertake virtually any milling duty.

Hydratight’s unique geniSYS 220 milling machine, meanwhile, is an amazing 3D tool offering milling and rethreading in-situ – even in a nacelle, if necessary, reducing downtime.
