Subsea Bolted Joint Integrity Courses

Following requests from major subsea clients, Hydratight has developed a range of subsea training courses which will aid operators/divers in reducing potential downtime, and provide a safer working environment when using high pressure hydraulic joint integrity equipment.

Legislation states that "the end user or employee should be provided with training in the use of the equipment they are expected to operate within their daily working environment", this is the employer's responsibility.

Hydratight's Subsea training courses are accredited by international awarding body City & Guilds as detailed below.

City & Guilds Accredited:

  • Bolted Joint Integrity and Hydraulic Tensioning (Subsea) - 1 Day
  • Bolted Joint Integrity and Hydraulic Torque Tightening (Subsea) - 1 Day

These courses are delivered in a topside environment and provide underpinning knowledge in the following areas:

  • Subsea theory, specific to the assembly and tightening of bolted connections
  • Gasket identification, and its features and benefits including failure mechanisms
  • Subsea flanged bolted connection tightening tools
  • The mechanics of tensioning - load loss explained and demonstrated
  • Maintenance issues: subsea torque, Tensioners, pumps, hoses and connections

Theory

Hydratight provides a comprehensive theoretical program covering the safety/technical and operational elements of the equipment.

Practice

Hydratight has a well established training academy with dedicated practical training rigs including pressure vessels, exchangers, various pipe work systems with typical flange/clamp arrangements simulating onsite activities for onsite machining and bolting services. Health and safety practices remain key and the training academy adheres to Permit to Work procedures.

All Hydratight Training Instructors are qualified coaches with extensive onsite experience at supervisory level.
