Leak Sealing

Leak sealing is a cost-effective process to affect a repair to a leaking component without the need for production down time.

What is Leak Sealing?

Leak sealing is a cost-effective process to affect a repair to a leaking component without the need for production down time, it enables the client to continue normal operations until repairs can be completed during the next planned shutdown by placing a containment clamp around a leaking component and then often injecting the space inside the clamp with a sealant. to prevent further leakage.

Leak Sealing can be undertaken on leaking

  • Flanges
  • Exchangers
  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Pipework

almost without any pressure, temperature, and medium limitations.

Leak Sealing Benefits

  • no disruption to service /production
  • reduces risk to personnel
  • eliminates environmental emissions
  • reduces operating cost
  • allows plant to keep running until a safe shutdown can be planned and a permanent repair put in place.

HOT BOLTING

Rely on Hydratights extensive safety record when looking to remove or replace bolts on pressurised flanged joints using Hot Bolting. Hydratight exclusively offers the Morsafe™ Hot bolting clamps which have secured containment of Oil and Gas systems around the world for more than a decade.

What is MorSafe?

Hydratight has decades of experience using traditional manual, hot bolting on flanges with 8 bolts or more however a specialist solution is required for 4 bolt flanges or any flange with significantly damaged or degraded bolts. The MorSafe™ clamp is a modular segmented clamp, which, when correctly assembled on a bolted flange, permits safe removal of the parent flange bolts without risk to the integrity of the joint. The MorSafe™ Hot Bolting clamp has been proved in campaigns worldwide with an extensive track record.

MorSafe Benefits

  • DNV Certified
  • Each clamp is tested to 1.5x the design pressure of application
  • Replace damaged or corroded bolts
  • Upgrade or align material specification
  • Limit the number of ‘containment breaks’

Increase shutdown efficiency

  • Replace ‘old for new’ bolts before shutdown

Reduce costs

  • Eliminates or reduces shutdown time
  • Prevent unplanned shutdown

Hot Tapping / Cold Tapping

Hot tapping is a process to make a new connection to existing piping or pressure vessels without the requirement of depressurizing or draining the section of pipe or vessel

What is Hot Tapping?

Hot tapping is a process to make a new connection to existing piping or pressure vessels without the requirement of depressurizing or draining the section of pipe or vessel. This is done under operating conditions by clamping the hot-tap adaptor around the pipe, cutting out a ‘core’ and then blanking off the new flanged connection with a valve. This allows new pipework to be safely connected or to install an isolation blind

Hot Tapping Benefits
  • no disruption to service /production
  • reduces risk to personnel
  • eliminates environmental emissions
  • reduces operating cost
What is Cold Tapping?

Same as hot tapping, just without any pressure in the line – major benefit is that you don’t need to break containment in the line which might then require the entire pipeline to be leak tested again.

Cold Tapping Benefits
  • no disruption to service /production
  • reduces risk to personnel
  • eliminates environmental emissions
  • reduces operating cost

Valve Testing

What is Valve Testing?

Valve testing is a process that is used to test and evaluate the health or condition of an operational valve. Naturally, there are many different types of tests and inspections that are performed on valves to ensure they are in the best condition and safe for use. Please contact us for pricing & availability.

Benefits of Valve Testing
  • Test procedure applicable for all sizes
  • NATA approved certification for all tested valves (Australia only)
  • Avoids down time and labour costs associated with valve removal from site.
  • Eliminates costs for transport of the valves, avoids transport damage.
  • Efficient management of test data including settings and results
  • Reduces costs.
  • Suitable for gas, steam, condensate, and water

Weld Test and Isolation

In line weld testing services provide a safe, reliable and cost-effective means for the localized pressure testing of piping.

What Is WT&I?

In line weld testing services provide a safe, reliable and cost-effective means for the localized pressure testing of piping.

The tool is inserted into a pipe and then positioned either to provide an isolation point or to bridge a weld that requires testing.

When the tool is energized, twin seals either lock the tool in place and prevent fluid from flowing past it (in the case of isolation), or as a weld tester, the twin seals sit either side of the weld to be tested, the small volume in between the seals is then pressurized and the weld subjected to the forces which prove its integrity. By using this method of testing a much smaller volume of fluid can be used reducing cost and time and increasing safety.

Benefits Of WT&I
  • Significantly reduce maintenance project timelines
  • Safely perform welding on hydrocarbon lines with the peace of mind of a positive pressurized hydrostatic isolation
  • Achieve significant reduction in wastewater (1/4 gallon of water required for a 24" test)
  • Combination Isolation and Test Tool assures vapor-free isolation for hot work and high-pressure capability between seals for testing welds with one tool
  • Multi-schedule capability, up to 6 schedules covered per tool, 40 tools cover 154 pipe diameter / schedule combinations
  • Lightweight, slim and versatile design. No crane required, able to mount in elbows and tees, able to test mismatched schedules
  • High-pressure capability. Test welds with relative ease up to 4500 psi
  • Self-centering tools are user-friendly and require minimal training
  • Hydrodynamic capability for heat treating

    Pipe Freezing

Pipe freezing is a method of isolating a section of piping so that it can be worked on by creating a frozen ‘plug’ further upstream of the process.

    What is Pipe Freezing?

Pipe freezing is a method of isolating a section of piping so that it can be worked on by creating a frozen ‘plug’ further upstream of the process.

The plug is frozen by placing a jacket around the pipe and then circulating liquid nitrogen through the jacket. This freezes the fluid in the pipe, which in turn expands and blocks the flow allowing you to work on the piping further downstream. Once completed the piping is allowed to return to its normal temperature and as the plug melts, normal fluid flow returns.

This is normally used on water based services for things such as plumbing and sanitation, drains or cooling systems.

    Benefits of Pipe Freezing
    • Minimizes disruption
    • Cost effective
    • No need to drain the system
    • Minimizes fluid losses
